Books on CD

Our Number one action on long car rides is studying. Thankfully, my Seven and Five may read by themselves. But my Four specifically doesn't have patience for extended trips, and he is not prepared to read independently. I will read aloud periodically, but it is not something I want to do for ten hours! That is where books on CD come in. I borrow them from the library, store them in my CD holder, and book multiple copies of each book so each of those big kids can follow along. I Also known to my Best Picture Books for Kids Pinterest plank and found that a huge pile of new-to-us books to take along. (The hard part has been keeping my children from reading them until the big trip!

Sticker Scenes

This Reusable sticker pad from Melissa and Dog is completely awesome as is, buy here. However, I wanted to find a way to make it work in the auto. The scenes are too big for laps, and definitely for our small trays. So I decided to cut every scene in half and cut the stickers into segments. Then each child can have a part of a scene and a set of decals to play with. The scenes won't be as striking as they would be with the full sheets, but you can' t be choosy when you've got seven people jammed to a seven-passenger van.

Fairy Tale Coloring Pages

Here Are some fairy tale coloring pages that my Five, Four, and Seven will enjoy. These are a freebie I'm currently offering to my e-mail subscribers. Learn more about these in this post.

Color by Number Addition Pages

My Seven requested for color by number pages. I wanted to create something which would challenge her and give her something she loves, so I set addition details on those fairy tale figures. You can get the set of ten complimentary webpages by visiting this post.

Magnetic Pattern Block Activities

We Have pattern blocks, but for this trip I purchased a magnetic set of blocks so the children can use them in their baking sheets. I discovered the large pattern block activities at PreKinders. I published a transport, snowflake, and animals set. The children can each set a paper in their board and cover it using the magnetic cubes. I also published the little set of designs from Kelly's Kindergarten and bound them with a ring. (You will have to shrink her layouts prior to printing them should you want them small.) My older children can recreate these images onto their own boards.
